Two individuals fined for SOP violation

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of two compounds to individuals for failing to comply with Covid-19 public place standard operating procedure (SOP).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the compounds were issued one each in Betong and Sarikei.

“The Local Government Ministry also issued 123 notices in verbal, written and confiscation warnings, namely through Sibu Municipal Council (17), Bintulu Development Authority (40), Marudi District Council (36), Kuching North City Hall (18), Kuching South City Council (three), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (five), Serian District Council (three) and Sarikei District Council (one).”

On SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams inspected 1,602 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 293 restaurants. Others were supermarkets (173), banks (118), public markets (72), places of worship (69), hawker stalls (42), government offices (51), leisure places (41), construction sites (12), factories (five), and others (726).

SDMC also said 2,098 vehicles were inspected in six Ops Benteng roadblocks in five districts – two in Lundu with one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
