KUCHING: In a bid to avoid a head-on collision, two men suffered injuries after the vehicles they drove swerved to the road shoulders and crashed into a lamp post and a bus station at Jalan Stampin here yesterday at 3.41am.

A team of firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were deployed to the scene upon receiving a distress call.

Following the crash, the 36-year-old sedan driver was pinned to his seat while the other 23-year-old was removed from his four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle by passers-by and received an early treatment before he was taken to hospital.

The firefighters attended to the 36-year-old victim using special tools to extricate him from the wreckage and handed him over to the paramedics.

The operation ended at 4.42pm.
