MALUDAM: An accident at Jalan Triso-Maludam on yesterday evening (Sept 14) resulted in the deaths of a motorcyclist and his pillion.

Sri Aman police chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said that the accident occurred around 7.30 pm between a motorcycle and a lorry.

When the Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene, their team had to free the motorcyclist from beneath the lorry.

By that time, the pillion had already been taken to the Maludam Health Clinic.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the pillion, later died from his injuries.

Preliminary findings suggested the motorcyclist lost control, causing the bike to slide under the lorry.

The deceased motorcyclist was identified as 18-year-old Syahzuwan Abdul Rasid, and the pillion was 26-year-old Peng Billy.

The lorry driver was unharmed in the incident.

Mathew confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
