MUKAH: Tanjong Manis MP Ir Yusuf Abdul Wahab, who also serves as the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) chairman, recently visited several longhouses here to distribute cheques for minor rural projects (MRP).
At Rumah (Rh) Wun Ering in Bakerkong, he presented a RM20,000 MRP cheque for the collective repair of the longhouse’s jetty.
The fund was requested by the head of the longhouse due to the damaged condition of the jetty which was essential for the residents to access the river for their livelihoods.
During the visit, Ir Yusuf personally inspected various locations highlighted by its residents.
Following this, he visited Rh Anggok Kiai on the Sibu-Tanjung Manis Road to hand over a RM20,000 MRP cheque for upgrading the car parking area in front of the longhouse.
The project will be carried out collectively after previous funds were insufficient to complete the front area repairs.
The enhancement of the front area will enable residents to park their vehicles more safely compared to the previous practice of doing so along the main Sibu-Tanjung Manis Road.
Ir Yusuf hoped with these allocations, residents of the longhouses would enjoy better and more comfortable facilities.
