MIRI: Police have apprehended two local men suspected of involvement in drug trafficking activities at a housing area in Miri.
The arrests were made on Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm in a raid led by officers from the Miri District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, confirmed Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu.
During the operation, authorities seized a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances suspected to be ketamine, along with a pink can that concealed another similar packet.
The total weight of the suspected ketamine was 18.25 grams, with an estimated street value of RM2,730.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which prescribes a penalty of two to five years of imprisonment and three to nine strokes of the cane if convicted.
The suspects were brought to the Miri Court, after which a three-day remand was granted for further investigation.
