MIRI: Two men cheated death in an accident involving two vehicles at Jalan Miri-Bintulu here early yesterday.
The incident which occurred at 12.30am involved a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle and a sports-utility vehicle (SUV).
According to sources, the accident occurred when the 4WD that was heading to the city centre from Jalan Airport was believed to have gone out control at a road bend and veered into the opposite lane.
“At the same time, the driver of the oncoming SUV tried to avoid colliding with the 4WD, but lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree on a road divider,” sources said.
He said both drivers managed to get out of their own vehicles.
He also said a team of Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel was called to the scene to remove the tree and debris.
The traffic police were also at the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
