BAU: Police arrested two men for drug-related offences on Wednesday.
Narcotics police caught the duo in the act of using illegal substances at Kampung Bogag, Jalan Serikin-Bau.
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the two suspects, aged 23 and 29 years, from Kampung Stass and Kampung Bogag respectively, were arrested at about 11.15am.
A small transparent plastic package containing syabu weighing 0.38g was found at the location.
He said initial urine tests also found both men positive for methamphetamine use. One of the suspects also had a criminal record.
They are being remanded to facilitate further investigation under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the same Act.
A conviction under Section 12 (2) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 could result in a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment not exceeding five years or both.
A conviction under Section 15 (1) (a) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 could result in a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding two years and ordered to undergo supervision for not more than three years under Section 38B of the same Act.
