Miri: A two-metre long python, weighing about 20kg, was safely removed from a chicken pen of a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit here on Monday.

According to a Civil Defence Force (APM) report, the reptile was spotted by the house owner, a 56 year old man, at 7.50am who immediately alerted the force.

Fortunately, all of the man’s chickens were unharmed.

“The huge python was spotted ‘chilling’ above his chicken pen that morning,”  the statement said.

The man was on his way to feed the chickens, when he made the discovery.

A team of APM Miri was mobilised to the scene upon responding to a  distress call.

The officers managed to capture the python  which was later released to its natural habitat.
