KUCHING: Two men died in an accident after a head-on collision in Jalan Kampung Menjau earlier today.
Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said that the accident happened around 3.25am.
Investigations found that both victims, a 19-year-old from Kampung Siga in Siburan and a 21-year-old from Kampung Petag in Batu 14 Jalan Penrissen, were believed to have collided into each other.
“The 19-year-old was coming from Kampung Menjau and heading towards Tabuan Rabak when he collided with the 21-year-old, who was riding from the opposite direction,” he said in a statement.
It is believed that the impact caused the victims to be thrown onto the road and that both sustained injuries.
The 19-year-old victim, who was identified as Augustine Julia, died at the scene, while Lopez Sauko Desnie, 21, died while receiving treatment at the Serian Hospital.
Abang Zainal stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
