KUCHING: The State Health Department (JKNS) today (June 9) declared two new Covid-19 clusters, namely the Kampung Hilir Lingga cluster in Sri Aman and the Kampung Sinar Budi Baru cluster in Kuching.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the Kampung Hilir Lingga cluster was a community cluster involving three localities in Sri Aman district, namely Kampung Hilir Lingga, Kampung Masjid Baru Lingga and Taman Pasir Panas.

It said the cluster resulted from social interactions and visiting activities among family members in the three localities during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

“Of the 32 people who were screened, 23  including the index case tested positive while nine tested negative,” SDMC said in a statement today.

It added all the positive Covid-19 cases were admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), the Sri Aman Hospital and the Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in the Sri Aman district for   isolation and further treatment.
