KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded two Covid-19 fatalities in Miri and Sibu today (April 23), bringing the death toll to 148.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the victim in Miri was Case 18,616; a 31-year-old local man who was admitted to Miri Hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19 on April 7.
“The case started experiencing symptoms of a respiratory tract infection a week earlier.
“His health deteriorated since then and he was pronounced dead on April 21.
“The case had no comorbidities,” said the committee in a statement issued today (April 23).
Meanwhile, the second fatality is Case 17,738 who was a 64-year-old local woman who was admitted to Sibu Hospital due to fever, lethargy and poor appetite.
“A screening rT-PCR test was performed on the case and the result came back positive on April 4.
“The case was found to have symptoms of a respiratory tract infection a week earlier.
“Her health deteriorated since then and she was pronounced dead on April 22.
“The case had a dyslipidemia comorbidity,” it added.
The committee further extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
