KUCHING: Two foreigners were caught after robbing the manager of a mini mart they previously worked at with blunt objects last week in Semariang here at Jalan Sultan Tengah.

Kuching police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the two suspects, along with another, went to the mini market at 9.30pm, half an hour before closing time last Sunday (May 19).

“They ordered their former manager who was working alone to be quiet. The victim’s hands and legs were tied up and the suspects took the victim’s mobile phone and cash from the cash registration box.

“After they fled, the manager managed to free himself and called for help,” he said.

The two suspects are looking at jail and whipping if convicted.

The duo, aged 21 and 24, then hid in a budget hotel at Jalan Green Hill but were caught by police on Wednesday morning, who also seized some cash found on them.

They will be charged under Section 395/397 of the Penal code and if convicted, they can be jailed for 20 years with whipping.
