KUCHING: Three individuals were left with injuries after the vehicles they were travelling in, swerved and crashed into ditches at separate locations today.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said all of the victims who are locals, were rescued out of their vehicles by passers-by before the rescue team arrived.

The victims comprising a local man and a married couple were also taken to the hospitals for further treatment. The extent of their injuries was not made known.

The first accident involving a pickup truck happened at the Kampung Sageng Bridge in Simunjan around 7.55am.

Firemen from Simunjan station who were despatched to the scene, found that the pickup truck had overturned in the ditch.

Meanwhile, the second accident involving a van, happened at Sungai Janting junction in Bintangor around 12pm.

Firemen from Bintangor station who were deployed to the scene, found that the van had swerved off the road and fell into a ditch.

After ensuring that the situation was safe at both locations, the team returned to their stations.
