TATAU: Two men sustained severe injuries following a collision involving two four-wheel-drive vehicles near Simpang Sangan along the Tatau-Sibu Road yesterday (Mar 29).

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the 3.36pm incident prompted an immediate response from a team dispatched from the Tatau fire station.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that the collision involved two Toyota Hilux vehicles, one single cabin and one double cabin, both travelling from Tatau to Sibu.

“One victim was trapped inside the single cabin Toyota Hilux, and the rescue team promptly extricated the victim using rescue equipment.

“The 60-year-old victim was then handed over to the ambulance team after being rescued,” it said.

Meanwhile, two victims from the double cabin Toyota Hilux managed to exit the vehicle on their own.

One of the victims suffered severe injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries.

All injured individuals were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.
