SIBU: Traffic police arrested two teenage boys for riding their motorcycles recklessly during an integrated operation last Saturday (Nov 16).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the operation, codenamed “Op Samseng Jalanan”, was conducted from 5 pm to 10 pm around Taman Permai Jaya.

“Two local teens, aged 15 and 16, were taken into custody for reckless motorcycle riding.

“The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding,” he said in a statement.

In addition, the police confiscated 10 motorcycles for further action under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

During the operation, the traffic police inspected seven local men and issued 10 traffic summonses for various offenses.

These offenses included failing to possess a driver’s license, modifying vehicle structures and exhaust, failing to have side mirrors, using fancy license plates, possessing expired road tax, and having incomplete accessories.
