SERIAN: Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities II Datuk Willie Mongin has approved a grant of RM88,000 to two villages in his Mambong constituency.
He approved RM58,000 for Kampung Panchor Dayak in Serian and RM30,000 to Kampung Nyegol in the Upper Bengoh Dam in Padawan.
The Puncak Borneo MP said RM30,000 is approved for upgrading works on the St. Ambrose Church of Kampung Panchor Dayak, RM18,000 to construct an integrated garbage collection centre and RM10,000 to repair the house of a poor family in the village.
Willie announced the grant during his visit to Kampung Panchor Dayak on the invitation of the village’s development and security committee on Sunday.
Prior to this, Willie had also distributed RM500,000 for the village’s road project, RM30,000 for their church upgrading works and RM10,000 for the Panchor Hot Springs repair works.
All these projects are already fully completed.
During the visit Willie was brought to the see for himself the church’s building and its cemetery, visiting the proposed site for the garbage collection centre and inspecting the condition of a poor family, Julia Singun’s house.
Present were Penghulu Sirau Lungkis, Kampung Panchor headman Buri Gamui and councillor Julius.
Meanwhile on Saturday Willie visited Kampung Nyegol at the Upper Bengoh Dam and approved RM30,000 for the village.
Willie announced the grant in his speech during the “Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat” programme organised by Puncak Borneo Women’s Bureau (BWPB) at the village on the same day.
He said RM20,000 is for upgrading works on the footpath leading to the village and another RM10,000 for the church’s upgrading works.
Some 54 members of BWPB led by its adviser Datin Chooi Ling Yee and chairman Carolina Sakok as well as representatives of non-governmental organisations joined the trip which took about an hour by boat along the Bengoh Dam.
