SIBU: It’s a difficult task but our volunteers accomplished it.

The food basket assistance from the state government arrived safely at Kampung Bungan Kecil and Kampung Bungan Besar here today.

The deliverymen had to travel one hour and 30 minutes by boat along the Igan River before they finally arrived at the destination, said Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew.

The two villages, which are currently subject to a conditional movement control order (CMCO) are the last two villages in the Bawang Assan state constituency that have yet to be connected by road. Riverine transport was the only means of communication, he added.

The food baskets were for distribution to 200 people in both villages.

The two villages had been subject to a conditional movement control order (CMCO) following the detection of Covid-19 positives cases among its people.

The food baskets were distributed among 200 people in both villages.

Lau said thanked the state government for the assistance.
