BAU: Police arrested two youths for possessing drugs during an inspection at a roadblock at Jalan Bau-Serikin last Friday (May 14).
The district’s narcotics police stopped a motorcycle ridden by the two men in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Tapis’ around 1.20pm.
Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said police seized a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu, in one of the suspect’s bag.
“Both the suspects and the drugs weighing around 0.29g, were later taken to Bau NCID office for further actions.
“Background check found that both men aged 21 and 28, had no past records. They also tested positive for drugs,” he said.
The suspects are being remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Poge said efforts to curb and detect drug activities in suspected locations, will be carried out continuously in conjunction with the festive season.
“Parents must also play a role during this festive season by constantly monitoring their children so that they won’t be involved in any unhealthy activities that could affect their future,” he said.
