KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib were guests of honour at a state dinner held in conjunction with the opening of the First Meeting of the fourth term of the 18th State Legislative Assembly held at the Banquet Hall of the DUN complex at Petra Jaya here.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, deputy chief ministers, ministers, assistant ministers, parliamentarians, state assemblymen and other dignitaries were also present.
The banquet saw popular national singers, Bob Yusup (AF) and Fairuz Misran (P Ramlee Sabah), rendering well-known songs to entertain the guests.
Other local artistes who also performed, accompanied by Pop Jazz Orchestra, were the Sarawak Arts Council artistes.
A video presentation on the activities of the 150th anniversary of the DUN was also screened.
The current DUN sitting will end on May 9.
