KUCHING: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Datuk Mutang Tagal’s family on the passing of the 20th President of the Senate.

Sharifah Nong-Jasima, the second daughter of the Head of State, said her father was devastated to hear of the sad news as he has lost a good friend.

“My father believed Datuk Mutang possessed the resilience and dedication needed to carry forward parliamentary reforms and this belief is rooted not just professionally  but also in comradeship and a shared purpose,” she told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted.

Sharifah, who conveyed her father’s message also stated that Mutang’s passing is a loss deeply felt by not only Sarawakians but by all Malaysians, a testament to his widespread influence and respect.

“As much as we love and will miss him, God loved him more and may he rest in eternal peace,” she added.

Mutang passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN), Kuala Lumpur at 11.46 am today at the age of 70.
