KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has received an official invitation to the coronation ceremony of the His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

According to a press release, the invitation was presented by the deputy Senior Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman, during a courtesy visit to Wan Junaidi at the Astana Negeri today.

When met by the media after the courtesy visit, Awang Alik said that the coronation ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim, the 17th King of Malaysia, is scheduled for July 20 at Istana Negara.

The Governor also received a courtesy visit from the United States Ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D. Kagan.

During the approximately 35-minute meeting, Wan Junaidi shared his views on the relationship between the United States and Sarawak, as well as discussing economic development in Sarawak.

Also present were the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and an officer from the United States Embassy, Lauren M. Matherne.
