KUCHING: Head of State Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar joined more than 1,000 Sarawakians in a breaking of fast event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last night (Mar 22).
The event, organised by Sarawak Foundation, was also attended by the Governor’s wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang; Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas; Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar and his wife Datuk Fatimah Mohd Iskandar; Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang were also among those present.
During the event, a total of 324 students from Genius College @ Pintar, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Higher Education Institutions as well as children of Sarawak Foundation staff in Kuala Lumpur and Rumah Sarawak were the recipients of the Hari Raya donations.
Fifty students represented the other recipients in receiving their respective contributions.
The donations were presented by Wan Junaidi and his wife, as well as Abang Johari and his wife.
Prior to that, Wan Junaidi together with the Abang Johari and other attendees broke their fast and performed the Maghrib prayer led by Grand Imam of Sarawak Sahibul Fadilah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, followed by the Isya and Terawih prayers.
