KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar paid his final respects to the late former Bukit Begunan assemblyman Donald Lawan, at the family residence here yesterday (June 14).
Accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, he arrived at 3.56 pm and was greeted by Donald’s son, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan, along with other family members.
Wan Junaidi spent approximately an hour consoling the bereaved family.
Donald, 81, breathed his last on Tuesday (June 11) due to heart failure.
He was a businessman who had previously served as the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister before becoming the assemblyman for Bukit Begunan.
Meanwhile, a funeral service for Donald will be held this morning at the St Faith Anglican Church and thereafter for burial at the Nirvana Memorial Park, Jalan Bau.
