KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, attended the State Banquet in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here last night (May 15).
Held at the DUN Complex, the event was attended by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
The dignitaries were also entertained by performances from the Sarawak State Symphony Orchestra (SONS) and local artists Hafizah, Alia Tenor, Yadee and Max Kueh.
Among those present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and Cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the second session of the 19th DUN started yesterday and will continue until May 24.
