KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received a courtesy call from the Organising Committee of State Level Ma’al Hijrah Celebration led by Datu Misnu Taha at Demak Jaya, here.
The visit was to invite Tun Taib to the Ma’al Hijrah
1440H/2018M State Level Celebration to be held in Sibu on this coming 10 and 11 September.
Misnu when met during the courtesy call said this year’s Ma’al Hijrah celebration is very meaningful as it is held in conjunction with Sarawak’s 55th year of Independence through the formation of Malaysia.
According to him, the main events to be attended by Tun Taib and his wife will be the ‘Majlis Doa Akhir Tahun 1439H and Awal Tahun 1440H’ at An Nur Mosque in Sibu on 10 September as well as the Ma’al Hijrah State Level Assembly at Sibu Islamic Complex Hall on 11 September.
The winner of the ‘Anugerah Tokoh Khas Ma’al Hijrah’ given once every five years will be officially announced in Sibu at the celebration, he pointed out.
Another item, according to him is the special presentation during the Assembly which will be ‘Penulisan Khat’ (Calligraphy Writing) that will be accompanied by music.
Other items held during the Ma’al Hijrah Celebration in Sibu this time will included side programmes such as talk entitled ‘Perjuangan dan Nikmat Negara Merdeka’, Smart Marriage Programme, Forum Perdana, Ceramah Wanita, and opening of Zakat (Alms) counter.
