KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy visits at Astana Negeri yesterday.
The first courtesy visit was from Sarawak Islamic Information Centre (IIC) chief executive officer (CEO) Zabariah Matali. The purpose of the visit was to brief Taib on the Al-Ameen project which was launched in 2015 in an effort to nurture and develop diverse ethnic Muslim youths in various fields, especially in education, leadership, social and religious skills.
The project involved 30 students from four schools in Kuching. Also present were the principals and teachers from SMK (A) Matang 2, SM Sains Kuching, SMK (A) Sheikh Hj Othman and SMK (A) Tun Ahmad Zaidi.
Earlier, Taib received a courtesy visit from the Brooke Museum and Brooke Trust led by its
director, Jason Brooke.
Also in the delegation was Lady Roberta Simpson — a granddaughter of the last White Rajah of Sarawak, Charles Vyner Brooke — her husband Sir Kyffin Simpson and daughter Heidi Simpson, who were also visiting Sarawak.
