KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from Shell Malaysia led by its Country Chair and senior vice president of Upstream Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman at the Astana on Friday.

Siti Hurrairah, who hails from Kuching, is the first woman to hold the position of country chair of Shell Malaysia.

She began her journey with Shell as a Shell scholar, graduating from Imperial College in London with a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering. She started her career as an Operations Engineer in Shell Malaysia Upstream in 1994.

Early in her career, Siti took on roles in development, planning, commercial, and strategy in both the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

In 2011, she became the first woman from Sarawak to be appointed as the Malaysia Asset manager and director of Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Limited, responsible for Shell’s upstream oil and gas operations in Sabah.

Among those present at the courtesy visit were the Head of State’s wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, general manager of Corporate Relations East Malaysia, Shell Malaysia, Jonathan Jolly and the Corporate Relations advisor, East Malaysia, Mohd Shukury Anuar.
