When asked about the preparations for HAWANA, Fahmi said that everything is going smoothly, and he is very excited to meet with all local media practitioners as well as six international media organisations that have been invited to the event.

“For this third edition, several programmes involving students and local journalists will be added to provide them with a deeper understanding of the issues faced in the media and journalism industry.

“Generally, we will look at the challenges faced by media friends, similar to those in many other countries, such as fundamental issues like the economics of journalism, and now additionally, the issue of artificial intelligence (AI).

“Therefore, we will certainly look at the aspects of journalistic ethics, professionalism, and possibly the future of job courses.

“We hope that the platform provided by HAWANA will give us some insights into the future, and the input from this programme, I believe, will help the Ministry of Communications and the government formulate sustainable policies for the future of media,” he added.
