KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar urged athletes to use 21st Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2024 as a platform to enhance unity among inter-state participants.

“My hope is that every athlete representing their state in Para Sukma 2024 will compete with a strong spirit of sportsmanship and unity. To the Sarawak athletes, I encourage you to give your best and have faith in your abilities.

“Believe me, you all have the potential to become world champions. Best of luck and all the very best to everyone!” he said in a statement posted on his official Facebook account last night (Sept 22).

In the post, Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, were seen attending the opening ceremony of Para SUKMA Sarawak 2024 at Stadium Perpaduan Petra Jaya.

Wan Junaidi also congratulated Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah and the main committee of Para SUKMA Sarawak 2024 on the successful opening ceremony.

Also present at the opening ceremony were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
