KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud visited the Sarawak Timber SMEs Expo at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday.
He was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Ragad Waleed Alkurdi Taib.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan; Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais; Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh; and Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) general manager Hashim Bojet.
The Head of State went to the Bamboo Gallery where he tried out a hat, inspected the furniture, and witnessed a ‘live’ demonstration of Indonesian bamboo fashion. His wife also tried out the hat.
Next, he went to the Design District which showcased products designed by young talents, including the Pool Of Young Designers (Poyod) and Pusaka Unimas Furniture Design Competition winners.
Taib also went to the booths of the timber players and SME entrepreneurs where he made some purchases.
The Sarawak Timber SMEs Expo is jointly organised by STIDC and the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED) Sarawak from June 27 to 30.
