KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi welcomed a delegation from the Sarawak Orang Ulu National Association (OUNA) at Astana Negeri today (Sept 12).
The delegation, led by its president Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Abdullah, also known as Tom Belarek, met with the Governor to discuss the latest developments and future directions of the association.
The primary aim of the visit was to update Wan Junaidi on OUNA’s ongoing efforts to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the Orang Ulu community.
The visit was well-represented, with notable attendees including the Sarawak OUNA deputy secretary-general Anyi Wan, the Sarawak OUNA central executive committee (CEC) member Peter Jalong Usang, and several key figures from various OUNA branches.
Among them were chairman of the Lapok Branch Andrious Ding, secretary of the Bario Branch Renly Gau, and the Youth secretary of OUNA Kuching Salih Sulaiman.
Also present were chairman of the Tubau Branch MU Raymond Lahang, and chairman of the Long Branch Lawai Ului.
The delegation included notable figures — James Ritchie and Arthur Lee, as well as prominent members of the Long Lama Baram Berhad Cooperative, including its chairperson Haydon Paya Jok, and secretary Siti Zulaiha Abdullah.
