KUCHING: The heavy rain did not dampen the spirit of Gawai celebration as Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi continue to visit Gawai open houses here.
Starting off the second day of the celebration, the couple went to visit The Bishop’s House, St Thomas Church where they take part in the ‘ngabang’ programme with Rt Rev Datuk Danald Jute and his wife, Datin Julita Jack Sungul.
Following this, they continued their Gawai celebration at the residence of the Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at around 1.45 in the afternoon.
His arrival was warmly welcomed by Uggah’s family accompanied by a traditional Dayak performance.
He was later joined by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
Also present during their visit was Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and other dignitaries.
