KUCHING: The passing of former Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is a great loss to Sarawak and the country.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas described Taib as a truly great master planner and architect of a modern, united and progressive Sarawak.
“He indeed played a very important role in governing and in driving the success of our state,” he said in his condolence message, today.
Uggah said Taib commendably succeeded in leading Sarawak through the politics of mutual respect, collaboration and co-operation among the multi-racial and multi-religious people of Sarawak, thereby securing the harmony and unity that we enjoy today.
“His vision, willpower and total commitment to modernise and develop Sarawak into what it is today will not be forgotten,” he added.
Uggah extended his deepest condolences to Taib’s family.
