KUCHING: UiTM Sarawak Alumni Association (Mitsa) has won a pat on the back for organising human capital development programmes involving secondary schools in Sarawak.
In stating this, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said as a UiTM alumnus, she is proud of Mitsa’s achievements, which is one of the active UiTM alumni associations organising such programmes.
“These community service programmes and Mitsa initiatives are held annually to assist in the development of young future leaders of the country.
“I am also informed that such programmes have been conducted since 2005 in several areas in Sarawak, including Kuching, Samarahan, Simunjan, Saratok, Mukah, Bintulu, and Lawas.
“Mitsa also plans to hold this programme in Miri this year,” she said at Mitsa’s 16th Biennial General Meeting here on today.
Nancy hoped such programmes will continue to help the community produce holistic individuals who are more prepared to step forward with confidence for the future and contribute to development.
“Mitsa is also active in community activities and is always attentive to current issues, participating in several basic food donation programmes during the Covid-19 pandemic involving UiTM Sarawak Branch students, tablet donations to UiTM Sarawak Branch students from B40 families, calculator donations to secondary school students, and food basket donations to target groups and essential aid to charitable bodies,” she added.
Nancy called on more alumni from the university to participate in Mitsa.
“This is because we need more alumini to contribute their services, finances, expertise, and time for the development of our people, especially in Sarawak,” she said.
