KUCHING: SK Pinang achieved an 85 per cent increase in Mathematics and Science passes in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) last year – a huge leap from the 50-60 per cent passes in 2017.
SK Pinang headmaster Dayang Mastura said this when met by reporters at the Mathematics Exploration Room handover ceremony at SK Pinang, Kota Samarahan near here yesterday.
“The room will be open to all uses that involved learning and will also be used according to the respective class schedules. Therefore, the teacher will need to choose the right time to use it.”
In addition, Mastura said the room would also be used for mathematics and science clubs so that pupils can enhance their learning experience.
“With the cooperation from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and the local community, it is hoped that the pupils will continue to improve not only in Mathematics and Science but also in all subjects in the UPSR,” she said.
Meanwhile, UiTM Student Affairs deputy rector Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Isa Mohamadin said the project was UiTM’s way of helping to develop the local community.
“This project is the second organised by UiTM in order to produce quality and holistic graduates.
“Previously, this project was implemented at SK Mata Parang, Kota Samarahan as our focus was to assist pupils, especially those in the rural,” he added.
