KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has introduced more effective and flexible terms for courses and lectures in its Open Distance Learning (ODL) programmes.
The move is to improve efficiency and to adapt to changing education system.
“This strategic initiative has been taken to re-synchronise the framework of online course assessment according to the requirement of Malaysia Qualification Agency.
“Such action is truly important because it could affect the quality of the graduates who would contribute towards the development of the country in the future,” vice chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Roziah Mohd Janor said in her speech during the 95th UiTM convocation ceremony here, today (Dec 19).
She said the Sarawak branch UiTM has encouraged graduates to be involved in various programmes create graduates who are dynamic, proactive and business-minded.
“Some of the programmes include the Sarawak Contemporary Creative Visual, Agrofest Month, Repurposed Art Exhibition Sarawak Challenge MTV Spring, Herbal Ethnomedicinal Webinar and Virtual International Language Exhibition.
“The implementation of the programmes is the result of the collaboration with strategic partners at the local and international levels between UiTM Sarawak and National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), Sri Aman District Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak, National Art Gallery, Institut Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya, Ningxia Medical University, China and Asean China Education and Culture Association,” she said.
Roziah reiterated that UiTM has been chosen as part of employers’ preferred university through the rating of the Index of National Marketability Talent-Bank Graduates.
“The rating has given us the marketability of six stars, for instance in Art and Design, Business Management and Entrepreneurship,” she added.
