KUCHING: Minister for Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah received a courtesy call from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak led by its Rector, Professor Dato Dr Jamil bin Haji Hamali at her office here, yesterday.
UiTM Sarawak had successfully bid to host the 8th International Conference on Gross National Happiness (GNH) to be held in Kuching at Riverside Majestic Hotel on 13-17 November.
The conference’s tagline is from Bhutan to Borneo- In search of happiness and with the theme ‘Community Vitality’.
The concept of Gross National Happiness (GNH) is Bhutan’s guiding development philosophy declared by the country’s King in 1972.
GNH expresses a shift in consciousness regarding how Bhutanese strike a balance between material and non-material values, prioritizing the happiness and well-being of humans and all life.
The objective of GNH is to achieve a balanced form of development encompassing a range of domains each of which makes a vital contribution to happiness.
Minister for Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah is the patron.
The conference is jointly organized by the State Secretary’s Office, UiTM Sarawak and the Centre for Bhutan Studies and Gross National Happiness.
