BAU: The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) should expand the Community Day Programme to other areas to better promote Sarawak government initiatives within local communities.
According to Serembu assemblyman, Miro Simuh, the Bau District Community Day should be used as a benchmark for improving the delivery of initiatives to the local residents.
“Kampung Kandis Baru is the pioneer location for today’s programme, making it the benchmark for future programmes.
“I am grateful to UKAS for selecting Kampung Kandis Baru as the venue for the inaugural Community Day Programme. I hope this event allows us to identify any areas for improvement to make the programme better.
“We need to learn from these shortcomings to further enhance similar programmes in other areas across Sarawak.”.
He said this in his speech at the closing of the Bau District Community Day 2024 held at Kampung Kandis Baru Hall on Saturday.
Besides that, Miro Simuh also stated that UKAS was essential in spreading and enhancing the Sarawak government’s initiatives.
“This crucial channel acts as the heartbeat connecting the citizens and the government, serving as a key medium within government agencies to disseminate important information, particularly from the Sarawak Government,” he said.
Meanwhile, UKAS director, Samuel Simon said that guided by the principle of ‘People’s Information Channel’, which is the cornerstone of UKAS work ethic, the unit within the Sarawak Premier’s Department remained committed to providing accurate information to the public.
“UKAS staff will continue to fulfill their responsibility of disseminating government initiatives to the people, especially those in rural areas, through news reporting and community programmes.
“We at UKAS will do our utmost as the people’s information channel to deliver accurate information to all the people in the state of Sarawak,” he added.
