KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Affin Islamic Bank Berhad (AFFIN ISLAMIC) have strengthened their strategic collaboration to provide educational and healthcare facilities for Malaysian citizens through their Oasis Mind Space programme.
This partnership was celebrated at the donation handover ceremony and official opening of the Oasis Mind Space @ School in Hospital, at Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital (UKM Pediatric Specialist Hospital) on Oc 25.
The Oasis Mind Space, a joint effort by UKM’s Chancellor Foundation, Faculty of Education, and the Pediatric Specialist Hospital, was inaugurated by UKM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic and International Affairs, Professor Dr. Abdul Halim Gafor.
“The involvement of industry players in providing sponsorships and assisting in the provision of top-quality healthcare and educational facilities in Malaysia, particularly through endowment and charitable contributions, is highly encouraged in line with the objectives set by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to foster strategic partnerships between industry players and higher education institutions,” he said.
The space has been thoughtfully designed to create a vibrant and futuristic environment equipped with creative tools for art activities, which aim to foster children’s mental and emotional well-being during challenging health situations.
The upgraded Oasis Mind Space not only meets the educational needs of young patients but also provides a supportive environment for teachers to facilitate learning and interaction, contributing positively to the children’s recovery process.
Affin Islamic’ CEO Datuk Paduka Syed Mashafuddin Syed Badarudin expressed the bank’s commitment to social responsibility, saying the bank is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility through initiatives like the Oasis Mind Space.
“We believe this space will provide children with the opportunity to continue their learning in a conducive environment while receiving treatment in the hospital.
“This initiative also reflects our commitment to ensuring the welfare of underprivileged children is always safeguarded.”
