KUCHING: Families of the victims of the recent boat tragedy on Oct 18 have received donations from the State Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS) and the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO).
UKPS in its statement said the donation was part of UKPS and PERKESO ongoing efforts to play a role in easing the burden of those in need and contributing to the welfare of the community.
UKPS and PERKESO hope that this contribution will benefit the families and help them sustain their lives.
UKPS also takes this opportunity to thank all parties involved, both directly and indirectly, during its mission to search for the victims of the boat tragedy.
For the record, the victims of the boat tragedy were having their training session in preparation for the Sarawak Regatta competition when their boat capsized. The five victims were Mohamad Ikhmal Sama’ail, Majurie Maharuf, Mohd Afiq Isyamudin Asaari, Mohamad Khairul Bidin, and Muhammad Khairul Hisham Kasturi.
