KANOWIT: A bridge, which is a project under the Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda), will be built in Ulu Machan this year, said Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong.
According to him, the project tender was closed last April 29.
To Allan, the bridge is proof that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is always concerned about the people, especially those living in rural areas.
“More development will be done for Machan. Hopefully you will be patient as developments cannot be implemented immediately because they need approval and allocations from the state government,” he said at a meet-the-people assembly at Rumah Petay, Nanga Sepituh here last Wednesday.
During the meeting, Allan announced the allocation of funds to help Rumah Petay to complete their longhouse which is still under construction.
Earlier on, Rumah Petay headman requested for assistance from Allan to help find ways to ease the burden of his people in transporting heavy/bulky materials such as bricks, sand and stones from Machan town to their longhouse.
According to him, at present, only boats can be used to reach their longhouse which takes an hour from Machan or Kanowit.
