SIMUNJAN: Family members of Rodiyah Sapiee fully support her contesting for the Batang Sadong parliamentary seat under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the coming 15th general election (GE15).
Two of her uncles have praised their niece for being brave and taking up the challenge.
Annuar Bojeng, 61, a former soldier, expressed his delight that his niece would be contesting for the Batang Sadong seat.
He told New Sarawak Tribune that Rodiyah, 44, was a very soft-spoken girl growing up and was always kind and compassionate to others. He wished her well and hoped that she would win in the GE15.
Suffian Mohamad, another uncle and the secretary of the Kampung Tanjung Pisang Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), said Rodiyah excelled exceptionally in academic, from her secondary school years all the way to her tertiary education at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
He too sent his best wishes and hoped that Rodiyah would win. “I hope she wins, just like the incumbent Datuk Nancy Shukri did in the previous election, and this time I hope she wins it with a bigger majority.”
“I believe she can do it, she has always overcome adversity and has great leadership skills. She would often smile through the challenges.
“As her uncle, I was very emotional when I found out that she was nominated as the candidate for Batang Sadong,” he added.
“If she wins, I hope she will continue to remain the same – kind, friendly and helpful.”
