KUCHING: Over 400 students from Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus and Curtin University Malaysia took part in Petronas’ Career Resides in You (CARRY) Youth Outreach programme.

The programme was aimed to increase awareness on the multitude of career opportunities within the energy industry to local talents.

Apart from that, a career forum on ‘Connecting Dots: Moving Beyond Oil and Gas’ was the programme’s highlight where Petronas leaders from various technical fields shared their experiences and provide some insights for the students.

“Petronas leaders from various technical fields share their experiences and provide some insights, particularly on Petronas’ commitment towards delivering cleaner energy solutions in line with its aspiration to achieve net zero carbon by 2050.

“Participants also had the opportunity to attend a Technical Masterclass and a clinic on effective Curriculum Vitae writing,” according to a statement.

Petronas Project Delivery and Technology head of Integrated Regional Satellite Office Sarawak, Roseman Rosli said the company remained committed to building a robust talent pipeline for the state’s growth in the oil and gas industry.

Swinburne Sarawak registrar and director of student engagement, Esty Sharkawi said through this programme, Swinburne undergraduates had the opportunity to learn directly from Petronas’ technical experts, in line with part of its vision to become curators of rich learning experiences.

In addition, Curtin University Malaysia deputy pro vice-chancellor Professor Vincent Lee said the programme was a testament to the strong ties between Petronas and Curtin University Malaysia.

“By manifesting Curtin University as a practical, industry-relevant education provider, underpinned by its strong connections with industry partners to create industry-relevant learning experiences, this ensures students that they are career-ready graduates.”
