SIBU: A jobless man is being held in custody for allegedly assaulting his father using a water hose after he became angry for being told not to disturb workers at a brick factory.

The local police chief Assistant Commissioner Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said about 11am last Tuesday the 59-year-old father, who is an odd job worker, told his son not to go out and disturb the brick factory workers.

The family is staying in one of the workers’ quarters at a brick factory in Jalan Sibu-Durin.

He said instead of heeding the advice, the 32-year-old suspect, who is married with two children, went amok.

“He took a water hose and hit his father’s back, chest, back of left arm and ribs,” he said.

The suspect who is the eldest of five siblings had once tried to assault his mother too.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a dangerous weapon.
