KUCHING: An unemployed man was fined RM6,000 in default 14 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for disposing of several stolen items belonging to his father.

Magistrate Zaiton Anuar ordered Abang Mohd Izwandi Abang Ahmad to pay a fine of RM3,000 in default seven months imprisonment for each charge against him under Section 414 of the Penal Code.

For the first charge, Abang Mohd was charged with disposing of a piece of furniture belonging to his father at 7pm on June 7 at a house in Kampung Tabuan Hilir.

For the second charge, he was charged with disposing of a Panasonic television, a washing machine and a fan, all of which were also owned by his father on June 10 in Kampung Tabuan Melayu.

Abang Mohd Izwandi’s father, who is the complainant in the case, had lodged a police report over the disappearance of several items from his house.

During investigation, Abang Mohd told the police that all the missing items had been sold by him to two separate individuals whose names he mentioned.
