BINTULU: Three houses of worship in the Murum state assembly area received cheques amounting to RM400,000 from the Other Religious Affairs Unit (UNIFOR) under Phase 3 of Year 2023.
The houses of worship were Uma Bawang’s RC Chapel of Immaculate Conception which received a cheque for RM200,000.00, RC St Luke Uma Belor Church (RM100,000.00) and BEM Uma Juman Church (RM100,000.00).
Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon officiated at the brief cheque handing over ceremony today.
In his speech, Chukpai expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak Government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who always cared for all races and religions in the state.
“This includes paying attention to the assistance needed by religious bodies in the state through UNIFOR.
“Hopefully, this UNIFOR fund will be used as best as possible to upgrade our churches here so that our congregation can worship in a comfortable and conducive atmosphere,” he added.
