KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) disbursed RM3.02 million in grants to eight religious organisations across the state.

Its Minister-in-charge Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, accompanied by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik, presented the cheques to various state assemblymen and representatives.

Among the recipients were Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, and Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai, who is Kakus assemblyman.

Others include Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hing, Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang and Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent.

The first handover ceremony was held in the Chief Minister’s Office on Thursday (Oct 7) and the next one is scheduled for tomorrow (Oct 8).
