KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) has given the Sam San Kuet Bong Temple at Mile 7 a sum of RM200,000 to carry out repair works of its roof and stage.

According to a statement, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap presented the grant to temple committee chairman Thian Ted Hin at the temple yesterday (Aug 26).

It stated that the temple was rebuilt and completed in 1998 but after 25 years, its roof started to leak and floor tiles of the compound were damaged and needed urgent repair.

“Due to this, the temple committee called for public donations last year to carry out repairs. Under the leadership of Thian, the main temple roof was repaired, retaining wall reinforced and painted, floor tiles of the compound were replaced, compound were cleared and beautified with new landscaping trees.

“Despite all this, some parts of the roof and stage of the temple still need to be repaired and reconstructed,” it said.
