KUCHING: A cheque worth RM1.5 million was presented to BEM Bethel Church in Sibu for its construction.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas presented the cheque to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi on behalf of the church.

The said cheque is from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) of which Uggah is the minister-in-charge.

KPDNHEP political secretary Lidam Assan witnessed the presentation of the cheque.

Uggah also presented a Unifor cheque of RM40,000 to the St Augustine Church in Kampung Tebedu for its renovation and repair works last week.

He also presented another cheque worth RM70,000.00 to the St John’s Church in Kampung Taee in Serian to install air conditioning.

Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong represented the churches in receiving the cheques.
