SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has achieved its target of vaccinating 5,000 people in its fifth day as a higher education institute vaccination centre (HEI PPV) on Friday (June 18).
HEI PPV Unimas start operating on Monday (June 14) at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Hall to help and support the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
Information Department (JaPen) Sarawak observed that the vaccination process ran smoothly and that recipients were glad to finally get vaccinated.
Jamli Jitiep from Taman Genesis in Matang was among the 5,000 vaccine recipients and was happy and grateful to be vaccinated.
He also said he understood the importance of getting vaccinated to protect not only himself, but his family as well.
Jamilah Joni of Pusa, Betong said that she was worried in the beginning yet positive about the vaccine which can keep herself, her family and those around her safe.
Another vaccine recipient, Siti Norokiah Roselie, said that receiving the injection was not painful and thanked HEI PPV Unimas and the government.
She added that there are still many people waiting for their turn to be vaccinated and urged people to register through the MySejahtera application immediately.
JaPen Sarawak also met with public servant Nur Hani Abdullah, who said that the Covid-19 vaccine has its benefits and helps to increase the community’s immunity to fight off Covid-19.
Nur Hani hopes that communities will cooperate with the government for a smooth vaccination programme and to break the chain of infection.
